The Orleans Parish School Board will auction a mix of six former school properties and unimproved sites at a live auction that will be held on Thursday, July 28th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orleans Parish School Board Office at 3520 General de Gaulle Dr. in Algiers. David Gilmore of Gilmore Auction & Realty Company and Sperry Van Ness Accelerated Marketing will conduct the auction. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m.
The properties include 801 Patterson Ave. (Algiers Bus Barn), Idaho St. and Seine St. (Vacant Parcel), 8258 Lake Forest Blvd. (Vacant Parcel), 1815 St. Claude Ave. (McDonogh 16), 2717 Athis Street (Vacant Parcel); and 3619 Camp St (Caretakers Lodge, the New Orleans Free School).
Details on these properties are below. Please note that the square footage measurement in the 3619 Camp Street appraisal is not correct. The correct square footage is 1,944 sf.
Bidders will be asked to bring a deposit, in the form of a cashier's check made payable to Bayou Title, in the following amounts: $10,000 for properties valued at $250,000 or less; $25,000 for properties valued between $250,000 and $1,000,000; and $50,000 for properties valued over $1,000,000. Once a successful bidder is chosen, the deposit will become non-refundable -- and the property will go to a closing within 60 days. Terms of the auction will be posted shortly.
The Orleans Parish School Board reserves the right to remove any and all properties from the auction at any time without notice.
